Research of ancestors begin with the parents, grandparents etc.... This can be the hardest part as records of the last 100 years have not been released and cannot be searched.

If you go further back in time, it becomes simpler as you will find official archives to be a very usefull source, initiated during the French revolution.

If we want to go even farther back, we have to use church records. As of 1600, the local priests were required to keep record of all marriages, baptisements and burials, but these records are limited.

Before 1600, records are scarse, less detailed and hard to find. We are still looking for traces and these are the earliest we have found:
